Richard Huber Obituary

HUBER,
Richard
"Dick"

Richard Steve Huber, of Cheney, Washington, joined the Choirs of Angels in Heaven on Sunday, March 27, at the age of 80. He was born 1931, in Plevna, Mon-tana, the youngest son of George and Emma Leischner Huber. Dick is predeceased by his parents and nine siblings. Survived by his four sons: Stephen Huber, Mark Huber, and Terry Huber and wife Diane of Spokane, and Jim Huber of Parker, CO; and daughter Ann Cunningham and husband Rick of Cloverdale, Oregon. He has 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Dick graduated from Plevna High School in 1948. He enlisted in the US Air force in 1950 in Baker, Montana. He served on active duty during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He moved to the Spokane area in 1966, being stationed at Fairchid AFB. He retired from military service in 1971. Richard worked several jobs after retirement, and managed the Nugget Apartments while attending EWU. He graduated with a degree in Sociology. He worked for many years for several farmers in the Cheney area. Many people know Dick from the Willow Springs Restaurant, where he had coffee and conversation with the locals and a song for his waitress. His passion for life was singing with the Pages of Harmony Choir of Spokane, traveling and singing with the group in competitions across the Northwest. Dick was an active member with the VFW Post 11326 in Cheney, promoting the scholarship program to local students and patriotism in the schools. Memorial Services will be held at the CHENEY FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1632 W. 1ST, CHENEY on April 9, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Union Gospel Mission of Spokane, or the Wounded Warriors Project.

One great thing about my Pop...
The older he got, the more he cared about people. I hope I can grow up to be just like him!
I love you Dad!

Uncle Richard was a favorite with me and my siblings. He always had a song for me. His passion for singing was very strong with him even when his health began to fail. He once told me that he would sing as long as lungs allowed him and I believe he did.

Our heartfelt thoughts are with the family of Richard
God bless you and keep you.
