Passed away on May 1, 2011 in Spokane, WA, at the age of 80. Bette was born on December 5, 1930 in College Place, WA. She was the daughter of Clarence and Gladys (Keith) Pratt. Her family moved to Rice, WA and she graduated from Kettle Falls High School. She then enrolled in Esther's Beauty School in Spokane. During the early 1950s she worked numerous jobs including Nat Park and Dick's Drive Inn. In 1956 she started a hair salon in her home and in 1956 she opened Bette's Tress Chic, where she worked until the day she passed away. Bette married Lloyd Nelson on August 22, 1955 in Spokane, WA. Never one to sit still she was a member of three pool leagues, with membership in the Witchy Women for 24 years, Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed traveling in her spare time. Bette is survived by her husband of 55 years, Lloyd Nelson of Nine Mile Falls, WA: two daughters, Juli Shane of Spokane, WA, Sherrie Orcutt (David) of Spokane, WA; son, Craig Nelson (Amber Foiester) of Nine Mile Falls, WA; four grandchildren, Darrel (Jennifer) Kinnan, Becky Kinnan, Tiah (Jonathan) Bounds and Brooklin Nelson; four great-grandchildren, Cydney, Lauryn, Chyenne and Sawyer; three siblings, JR Mclean of Pahrump, NV, Karen (Mike) Rogers of Spokane, and Joan (Bob) Urhausen of Kettle Falls, WA; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 6, 2011, at 1:00pm, in the Lincoln Center, 1316 N. Lincoln St., Spokane, WA. HAZEN & JAEGER FUNERAL HOME 1306 N. MONROE is in charge of arrangements.
