Eileen was born in Gladstone, North Dakota the oldest child of Elmer and Lillian (Gaffney) Johnson, and moved to Spokane in her youth. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1942 and Kinman Business School in 1944. Eileen then went to work for the Spokesman-Review in classified advertising. She later became secretary to the business manager and retired in 1984 as secretary to Mr. Cowles.
She married Alva Joe Simpson September 16, 1954. Joe preceded her in death August 10, 1992, as did her younger brother, Howard Johnson September 6, 2006. Eileen moved to Riverview Retirement Community August 1, 1994 and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Zella Johnson of Spokane; numerous cousins; and three step-children, Arthur W. Simpson of Olympia, WA, David Simpson, and Linda Simpson Jones of Spokane.
Eileen has requested that no services will be held. She will be buried beside her husband at Fairmount Memorial Park. Memorials in her name may be made to Shriners Hospital, Wishing Star Foundation, Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery, or Ronald McDonald House.
Arrangements entrusted to HAZEN & JAEGER FUNERAL HOME, 1306 N. Monroe St. in Spokane.

Eileen was such a lovely person -- so attentive to her brother and my Aunt Zella. Altho' I didn't meet her until Zella was in a nursing home, I'll never forget her.
