(Age 76)
Passed away May 23, 2011 in Colville, WA. She was born September 29, 1934 to Howard and Mabel Matthews in Colville and graduated from high school there in 1954. The seventh of eight children, she was the last to be born at the family home where the farmed on Douglas Falls. After high school she moved to Spokane, WA where she attended business school, later working at Lakeland Village. Letha moved to Great Falls, MT in 1970 where she worked 30 years for Missouri River Manor. In 2009 she returned home to Colville where she resided until her passing. Letha enjoyed gardening, hiking and biking. She also did some catering over the years. Her life's work, however, was caring for others. She was a member of Beta Sigma Chi, and a longtime active member of New Hope Christian Church in Great Falls. Letha is survived by a son, Robert Hair (Karen) of Tacoma, WA; daughters, Teresa Howe of Louisiana, Debra Banzet (Mike) of Ohio; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Don Matthews of Olympia, WA, Ted Matthews of Spokane, Ed Matthews of Harrington, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Marge Barton, Trudy England, Ruth Reed; and brother, Bob Matthews. A private family gathering will be held. Arrangements with HAZEN & JAEGER FUNERAL HOME, 1306 N. MONROE ST . in Spokane.

Letha was a wonderful person! I loved talking to her at work, back when it was CCCNH. She was very kind and loving to the residents, and to everyone that she came in contact with. Very sorry to hear of her passing.

I worked with Letha at the Manor and I loved her sharp wit. She was a joy to be around and always had so much grace and dignity with the patients. I will miss her.
