"Betty"
Born in Worland, Wyoming July 6, 1928, passed away February 11, 2011 in Spokane, where she moved in 1948. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Emmett Egbert and is survived by daughters, Char Parsley (whose husband Pat also passed away February 11, 2011), Marie Rendon (Avery), all of Spokane, and Jo Zemke (Bill) of San Francisco; and grandchildren, Darrell Campbell (Inna), Donia Campbell (Erica) and Vance Zemke (Megan). Rebecca will be remembered by all of her children, grandchildren, family and many friends as an inspirational artist, poet and writer of children's books and materials. Memorial Service will be Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 4320 S. Conklin, in Spokane. Contributions may be made to the Eastern Washington Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (EWCDHH) 1206 N. Howard St. Spokane, WA 99201. Arrangements entrusted with HAZEN & JAEGER FUNERAL HOME, 1306 N. Monroe St.

I have known Betty for almost all of my 61 years, but mostly as my mother's best friend. I remember the letters and pictures that Betty would send to mom of her girls, never thinking I would meet up with her years later as she invited the family to her and Emmett's home after our Grandmother Velma Cain passed away in 1986..she was so kind and fixed a marvelous meal for us. they made us feel like family. It wasn't until last February when we lost our mother Alice Bergen that I knew of the special friendship between the two..it was not easy for her to do, but she was "there" and I loved her for that...what a special friend she was for almost seventy years...I miss you Betty, but thanks for those few special memories you told me of you and mom...Love you Lori Anderson

I met Betty about5 or 6 years ago thru her Daughter, Char. She made me feel so welcome in her home and always having me to eat with the family, it was very much of Blessings for me to get to know Betty and family, I missed her daily postings in facebook and her prayers and know will really miss her during the events in our community. Although I have not seen Betty in a long time I will never forget her kindness to me. She inspired me to become an interpreter and to work for many wonderful years in the Spokane area. Always with her best wishes and support. I will miss her dearly.
