Rudolf Mahler Obituary

MAHLER,
Rudolf "Rudy"

Rudy Mahler passed away May 26, 2011. He was 89 years old. He lived indepen-dently in his home until only a few months before his death. He worked as a gardener many years and loved his garden and yard. He often sold fruit and plants from his garden to his many friends and neighbors in the Garden Springs area. Over the years, Rudy had written many letters to the editor in the Spokesman-Review. He served his country in World War II in the 414th Infantry Timberwolves. This note was found on his kitchen table after he died, " He has taken me to be with him in his peaceful home above -" where no sin or pain can enter and all is joy and love. I look forward to welcoming you all into heaven and thank you once more for your kind, thoughtful acts." Rudy was a Christian man and today he gardens in God's garden. He was born in Elzweiler, Germany on August 12, 1921 to Carl and Helen Mahler. He had one brother, Max Mahler; and three sisters, Katie Simon, Hilda Schaeffner and Helene Mahler. His family immigrated to America in 1935. He is survived by his cousin, Christa Simon and his great niece, Lottie Schneider. Please donate to the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers. A Memorial Service will be at 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at HAZEN & JAEGER FUNERAL HOME, 1306 N. Monroe St. in Spokane.
