Darlene Sowell Obituary

SOWELL,
Darlene

Darlene Sowell, our beloved wife, mom, sister, and grandma, went home to be with her Saviour on April 8th, 2011 after suffering with pancreatic cancer. She was born to Earl and Wilma Wiemer on February 18th, 1941. Darlene was a life- long resident of Spokane. She attended Lewis and Clark High School and went on to beauty school. She is survived by the love of her life, Jerry Sowell. They would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on December 4th of this year. She will be missed by her children, Jim and Theresa Daily, Carl and Susie Sowell, Curtis Brant, and Dan Sowell. Her sons Tracy Brant and Lloyd Sowell, preceded her in death. Darlene is also survived by her only brother Ed Weimer and his wife Nancy. She had nine grandchildren: Nicole, Toni, Robert, Jennifer, Alex, Brandy, Jordan, Tyler, Erika, and several great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. Darlene was always thoughtful, never forgetting to send a card for special occasions. She found great joy in giving to others. Darlene loved keeping busy by doing crafts, going to yard sales, and reading, as well as making and buying jewelry. Above all she loved spending time with family.
A memorial Service will be held at Greenacres Baptist Church, April 16th at 11:00 am., 18620 East Sprague Avenue, Spokane, WA 99016. A potluck and celebration of her life will follow in the lower level. We will all deeply miss her.

She was "Mom" and step "Mom" to two of my dearest friends. She always had a smile to share and I could always make her blush... She will be missed.
My heart goes out to Jerry and Curt.

Grandma, There are so many fond memories of spending time with you and gramps. All of the times that we shared, the laughter and the tears. I just want to thank you for all that you have taught me and all that you have done for me...You will always be in my thoughts and in my heart. I love and miss you so much. You were such a thoughtful, loving, and giving person. I know how much your family meant to you, and even though Toni and I were so far away in Alaska you still sent cards and gifts regularly, making sure we were never left out...I am thankful we were here to say our goodbyes. Rest peacefully Grandma. All my love, Nikki

Her beautiful smile says so much about who she was. God made a special lady when He made my mom. It is still hard to believe she is gone. I can't wait to see her again.
Sing a song of celebration, lift up a shout of praise
For the Bridegroom will come, the glorious One
And oh, we will look on His face
We'll go, to a much better place
We will dance on the streets that are golden
The glorious bride and the great Son of Man
From every tongue and tribe and nation
Will join, in the song of the Lamb

Grandma, I have so many fond memories of spending time with you and gramps. All the fun road trips, and yard sale-ing, shopping and crafting. I have learned so many things from you, a lot of which made me the person that I am today. I love you and miss you so much. Things definately will not be the same without you. I am definately glad I got to spend some time with you. You will always be in my thoughts and in my heart. Love, Nikki
