Lawrence Phillips Obituary


PHILLIPS, Lawrence L.
(Age 83)

Passed away on March 11, 2011 in Spokane, WA. Larry was born on May 31, 1927 to Chester and Bessie Phillips at Billings, Montana. Larry served in the Merchant Marines during WWII, entering at the age of 16. On July 5, 1945 he married Idona Collette. Larry worked and retired after 20 years, as a salesman throughout the Spokane area, for Genuine Auto Parts (NAPA). He also worked with his son, Van at TNT Fireworks for over 21 years. Larry was a member of the Hillyard Kiwanis Club and a past member of the Esmeralda Golf Club. Larry enjoyed working with his hands. He had purchased an older home and completely remodeled it in his spare time. Larry loved to play golf and did so with many friends and family wherever he traveled. Larry was preceded in death by his wife Idona and an older brother, Chester. He is survived by his sons Larry Lee Phillips of Spokane, WA, Van (Nancy) Phillips of Hillyard, WA. Grandsons, Joel (Heather) Phillips, and Nick Phillips. He is also survived by great-grandsons, Ryen and Christian. In 1991, Larry married Joyce Boyd who had three children, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 19, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel at Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley WA. 99206. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 9 South Washington Suite 704, Spokane, WA 99201.
