Never one afraid to "take the heat" as he used to say Bob did a fine job representing the people of the Spokane Valley. He always made me feel special with a smile and a handshake.

In the early 1980s when sewers were being proposed for the Spokane Valley the expense to home owners would have been devastating. Senator Mc Caslin joined with our citiziens to change the funding so that it was fair and reasonable. We owe a great debt of gratitude to Senator Mc Caslin

I have worked for the Senate Republican Caucus for almost 12 years. During that time I got to know Senator McCaslin very well. He was one of the most warm, compassionate and funny people I have ever known. He always took the time to ask about me and how I was doing and I was one of probably 100's that he "proposed" to. :) I miss him alot and count myself as blessed for having known him.

I was the last intern fortunate enough to work for Senator McCaslin and I will always be grateful that I was given that opportunity. As a kid I admired Ellen Craswell which just so happened to be his friend and ally many years ago. He told me stories of thier battles against tax increases and the pranks he would pull on her. I often found it a wonderful coincidence that I had been chosen to work for someone who knew Ellen so well and could inspire me with those memories. It reminded me that being a representative is not only about making difficult decisions but is about your character as well. As a Senator, he impacted people daily and I believe he served knowing that it gave him an opportunity to make a difference in our lives. Watching him educate young people about policy issues when they came to ask for his support gave me a great appreciation for his opinions. I knew that he would never change just to gain a vote or to be more persuasive. His example inspired me to run for office this past year and I will remain appreciative of the opportunities that he gave me. He was a kind, generous and thoughtful man who will be missed greatly.
