Larry SMITH Obituary

SMITH, Larry (Age 71) The Man. The Myth. The Legend. Edwin Lawrence "Larry" Smith (71) formerly of Spokane, passed away June 5th at his home in Goodyear, Arizona. He was born on August 26th, 1942 in Boise, Idaho to the late Edwin and Juanita Smith. Larry attended Boise State University and held a career in sales before retiring from Wendle Ford and moving to Arizona in 2009. He was an avid golfer, though it was a love-hate relationship. He also enjoyed watching a decent game of baseball, Jimmy Buffet music, and Crown Royal on the rocks. Larry excelled at selling anything to anyone, couponing, caring for those in need, double-paying his monthly bills, amassing random and unnecessary sale items from weekly grocery ads, embellishing stories (and his golf score), never losing a game of competitive sickness, and above all else, loving his children and grandchildren. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and sisters: Susan Smith and Kathy Smith. He is survived by four (confirmed) daughters who he lovingly referred to as "ungrateful little guttersnipes": Christina King (children: Lindsey, Ryan, and Megan); Kim Lynch (husband, Tom and children: Corey and Lauren); Kelly Roberts (children: Caity and Annie); and Carrie Smith (son, Nicholas). He also claimed two step-daughters: Molly Schwartz (husband, Lindsey and children: Jagger and London) and Megan Karl (husband, Adam and children: Payton and Hudson). Larry had few regrets in life, except for his decision to vote for Barack Obama (but only ONCE). A memorial will be held at Hennessy-Smith Funeral Home; 2203 N. Division St. on Thursday, June 26th at 3:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Larry's Life at the Spokane Club from 4-6 p.m. Please take the time to visit Larry's online memorial at www.hennesseyfuneralhomes.com, and leave a message of condolence. Here's to Larry, whose most consistent and reliable shot was always the double at the 19th.

A legend indeed.... what a great salesman he was - as evidenced by our purchase over the years of practically every model made by Ford.. Larry's infectious laugh and warm, gentlemanly manner will not soon be forgotten. We love you Larry, and will miss you immensely! Our sympathies to family and friends who have suffered the loss of a wonderful man.. - Rick and Chris Schrader

Yes, the girls said it right, you were a legend in your time, and will be missed by all. You certainly did embellish lots of stories, and could pretty much sell anything. You certainly did love those 4 girls and all the grandkids that came with them. May you be having just as much fun in your next spiritual life; we know you are. My condolences and thoughts are with the family at this time.

Ah the good times we had with Larry started in 1974 when we moved in across the street from Larry and "the girls"! Many memories were had camping in the rain, going "trick or drinking" as the men took the kids trick or treating on Halloween in the neighborhood, spending many hot summer days at Twin Lakes, football games in Seattle, golfing in Arizona, selling us Ford cars and trucks, Super bowl parties, and Spring training baseball games. You may not be here today but will be forever in our hearts. To Larry's family and friends, my sympathy and prayers.

To my kids you were "scary larry" all in fun. I have lots of good memories-your great sense of humor-a friendly smile, and a sparkle in your brown eyes.
My thoughts and prayers to all of the family

I knew Larry extremely well in the late 60's and early 70's. We were both Sales Managers in the Food Industries. Larry was with Best Foods, and I was with Lipton Tea.
Larry was with his first wife Sandy, and they had three Lovely daughters.
Rest well my old friend
