July 1, 1923 - October 11, 2013 July 1, 1923 - October 11, 2013 Albert Louis Meng passed away Oct. 11,2013 at the Spokane Veteran's Home. Prior to that, he had enjoyed 10 years at Lilac Plaza. Born July 1, 1923 in Garrison, Montana to Albert G. and Elizabeth Meng. He joined the Navy and served his country honorably in World War II. He moved back to Spokane and owned and operated a Husky Service Station that was founded by his father. He operated a Gull station until he retired in 1991. He was an avid gardener and worked with his grandchildren in his garden. They and his friends enjoyed the fresh carrots and tomatoes he was famous for. He enjoyed golfing & gambling & was a member of the Eagles Lodge for 69 yrs. Al will be missed by everyone who knew him. He lent a hand to everyone in need & had a smile & a joke for everyone he met. His kindness and compassion will live on in his children and grandchildren. Survived by his daughter, Diane Rasley (Tom & Jeff). Son, Tom Meng (Evelyn, Jaquelyn, Tammi Austin) and son Chris Fairchild. He was preceded in death by his wives Glenadena Darling and Jola Mickelsen)- Meng. A memorial and a celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, November 1, 2013 at the Lilac Plaza chapel, 7007 N. Wiscomb Street.
