MALSOM, Albert Ray
December 6, 1928 - February 23, 2011

Al went to be with the Lord on February 23, 2011 surrounded by his family. He was born and raised on a farm in Onaka, S.D. the son of Jacob and Margaret Malsom. He started playing the accordion at the age of 13 and continued entertaining until COPD forced him to stop in 2008. Al married Frieda Fischer in 1948 and they had five boys. He worked as a salesman for Armour Foods from 1947-1976 spending most weekends entertaining with one of his many bands. Al was honored to entertain and enjoyed playing his accordion across the Western States. Al was Sales Manager for Bonanza Meats from 1976-1983, and then started his own meat brokerage business, retiring in 1990. Al and Frieda were snow birds as Al entertained family and friends from Spokane to Yuma until 1999 when they moved full time to Yuma, AZ. In December of 2010 Al and Frieda moved back to Spokane to be near family and friends. Al is survived by his wife Frieda of 62 years; his five boys, Dennis and Peggy of Gold Canyon, AZ; David and Trina of Oakdale, CA; Dick and Marsha of Spokane; Dale and Karen of Spokane; and Neal of Scottsdale, AZ; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a host of friends and extended family. We will always remember his passion for family, music and entertaining. The celebration of Al's life will be held at Assumption Catholic Church 3624 W. Indian Trail Road, with a Rosary at 6:00 pm on Thursday March 3, 2011 and a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am on Friday March 4, 2011.
