(Age 79)

A longtime Spokane resident passed away peacefully Thursday morn- ing February 24, 2011.
He is survived by sons, Mark Bloomquist and wife Gay of Whitefish MT, Paul Bloomquist and wife Debi of Everett WA; daughter, Lynn
Spearman and husband Jim, of Spokane, WA; grandchildren Bryan Bafus of Spokane, Jenelle Bolyard and husband Ian and great-grandson, Ezekiel of Portland, OR. Sister and brother in-law, Adeline and Leonard Nunn of Spokane, WA; sister in-law Peggy Hutchison, Vancouver BC and nephews Dale, Craig, James, Peter and niece Marla. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Marjorie and his parents, Edward and Anna Bloomquist.
Curt was born in Iron Mountain, Michigan on February 28, 1931; He moved with his family to Spokane in 1940. He graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1949. Curt attended Whitworth College on a baseball scholarship for two years and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates as a pitcher, playing for their farm league. After his baseball career ended with a knee injury he worked for Simchucks Sporting Goods and then entered into his life long career as a real estate broker. He was a partner in Anthony Baker & Burns until his retirement in 1987.
In 1953 he married Marjorie V. Hutchison. In 1954 their first son Mark was born followed by Paul in 1956 and daughter Lynn in 1957. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and most recently, great grandfather. He always wanted and provided the best for his family.
Curt served as a Boy Scout Master during the years his sons were scouts, both of them achieving the highest rank of Eagle Scout for which he was very proud. He was President of the Spokane Lilac Festival in 1972 and President of Wampum in 1980. He loved his community and devoted much of his time promoting Spokane as a wonderful place to raise a family.
Curt and Marjorie loved wintering in Hawaii and spending summers at their lake home on Newman Lake.
At Curt's request no memorial service will be held. A family celebration of Curt's life will be held this summer at Newman Lake.

I am so sorry to learn of your father passing away. May your family find peace during these most difficult days ahead by remembering all the wonderful memories from years past that you have shared.
