David Carroll Obituary


CARROLL, David

Mr. Carroll was born March 13, 1934 in Berkeley, CA and moved to Spokane, WA in 1937. He graduated from North Central High School in 1952 and from Stanford University in 1957 with a degree in Metallurgy. He served in the U.S. Army Ordnance Corps as a 1st Lt. in Germany 1958-1960 where he met and married his beloved wife Eleonore (Hurst). As a scientist with General Electric and Battelle Northwest Labs in Richland, WA he did basic research in the field of plutonium ceramics 1960-1965. As a senior scientist in California for TRW, Inc. 1965-1976 he carried out research on metals and ceramics for use in nuclear powered generators for spacecraft. Two of his inventions are on crafts that have left the solar system. Since 1976 Mr. Carroll has been a co-owner and officer of the System Amusement and Mel Carroll and Associates corporations in Spokane, WA. He is survived by: his loving wife of 51 years, Eleonore Carroll; daughter, Nicole Carroll of NY; son, Patrick Carroll of Sarasota; brother, Robert Carroll of Spokane, WA; grandchildren; Bryon, Daniel, Jessica, Stephanie, and Mehla; and three great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Dave's life will be held at 5:00 PM on Friday, April 29, 2011 at Village Walk Town Center in Sarasota.

May God comfort you all at this time. I am grateful to have known Dave. He got such enjoyment from his family and I was fortunate to have been a part of thst.
