Dee Lock Obituary

LOCK, Dee

Dee Lock, of Spokane Valley, WA, "shucked his worn out body" in the wee hours of the morning on February 1, 2011. He flew off to join his Cherished Bride -" Cynthia, to dance in the golden streets of Heaven. We are sure he was whistling a tune. Dee was born in Walsh, Colorado on April 18, 1931. He moved to Idaho with his parents,
Vernice and Delma Lock, when he was about 5. Most of his Idaho growing up years were spent in the Bonners Ferry area, where he met Cynthia, his wife for over 60 years. Cynthia led the way in August 2009, losing her battle with cancer.
Dee and Cynthia are survived by their children Gary and Marlene Lock, Shari and Bob Fitch, Pat and Sheri Lock, Bill and Colleen Lock; sisters: Joanie Butler and Vera Kolegraf; sister-in-law Marva and Gerhart Maas and brother-in-law Mike and Karen Smith; a herd of grandchildren: (Heather), (Windey, Danny, Nick, Charity, Corey) (Charlie, Selena, Ashley) (Tara, Charley, Jessica) and a troop of great- grandchildren: Miranda, Alexa, Noelle, Sam and Amber, Stephanie, Brianna, Michael, Jonathan and Zachary. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Lester "Bud" Lock, and sister, Verna Jacobson.
Dee worked in road construction as an operating engineer throughout Idaho, Montana, Washington, Alaska and Hawaii. Dee and Cynthia resided in the Tri Cities area for many years while their children were growing up and settled in Otis Orchards, WA in 1991 when they returned from Hawaii. He retired in April of 1992. They traveled south most winters and spent time visiting family and friends and making new ones. During the warmer months they enjoyed their yard and patio, and neighbors in Bona Vista Park in Otis Orchards.
Dee moved into Sullivan Park Care Center in March 2007 where he received world class care and visits with family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Please in lieu of flowers make donations to Hospice of Spokane.
He will forever be missed by all.

Gary and family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. And we know that he is now happy with Cynthia. Dee and my Dad came in the same time to Sullivan Park and I was grateful to know both Dee and Cynthia and your family. I was always happy to see his smiling face he always made my visits brighter. May they all now be at peace.

I am sorry to hear about Dee's passing. He will be missed. I remember all the good times growing up at the lake and even some great parties at their home in Kennewick. He and Cynthia always made me feel welcome and I always enjoyed spending time with the Lock family.
My mom would also like to express her condolences to the family. So we are all thinking of you and keeping all of you in our thoughts and prayers. Take good care.
