ATWOOD, Don Don Atwood, a resident on the Spokane River since 1972 was born September 24, 1934 to Wilbur and Arlene (Wilcox) Atwood in Moscow Idaho. He passed away July 8, 2013 in his Post Falls waterfront home. Don moved to Coeur d' Alene in 1936 and lived his life in the area attending local schools, except for his military years. From January 1955 until January 1958 he served with the US army as PFC and SP3, with two years in Bremerhaven, Germany. Don married Darlene Boeker in Los Vegas Nevada on October of 1955. Their first child, Michael was born in Bremerhaven, Germany. Don worked 44 years for Kaiser Aluminum in Trentwood, Washington until retiring in 1997. He worked his last 15 years in the Kaiser Battery Shop. In retirement he enjoyed life on the Spokane River, building model railroads and dancing at the Slab Inn in Post Falls. Survivors include son Michael Atwood and children Bryan and Brittani Atwood of Post Falls. Son Tim and Kellie Atwood of Coeur d' Alene and children Kass Kremer in West Virginia and Ciara Kremer in Coeur d' Alene and Krystin Atwood in Florida. Daughter Teressa Ferrari and Eric Johnson in Gresham, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his father Wilbur in 1978 and mother Rose Arlene (Atwood) Swanson in 2007, and mother-in-law Mildred Boeker in 2011. Local family include brother Dave and wife Donna Atwood of Hayden Lake; their children Debbie and Bruce Buck and David and Jane Atwood. His sister Jeanne (Atwood) Venturino and husband Tony Venturino of Hayden Lake; their children Diana and Buddy Willford, Doreen and David Mohler, Ken and Lisa Venturino. Sister Nancy Howell Henry & husband Bob of the Dallas, Oregon with nieces and nephews John and Elaine Howell, Larry and Barbara Howell, Ellen Howell Turnbull and Rodney Howell (deceased) Memorials may be made to any of the local Veterans organizations. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel with burial at the Riverview Cemetery in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho with full Military Honors.
