Donald Smith Obituary

SMITH,
Donald Everett
(Age 83)

Beloved husband to his late wife Billie, lived a wonderful life January 21, 1927 - April 10, 2011. He took his last breath peacefully in the home of his daughter, Cynthia Claridge. Surviving him are his daughters Cynthia, Janine Smith, Deanna Smith, his son Brad Smith, his 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Don was raised in Oakland, CA by his loving parents Jay & Hazel, alongside his brother Bob. Don met Billie while stationed at Gonzaga in Spokane for the Navy at the close of WWII. Don and Billie began their family in Spokane on Mahr Ct, and later moved to Portland. Don enjoyed a long career in advertising and marketing where he made many friends. Upon retiring Don & Billie traveled a great deal, experiencing Europe, Africa, and most of the United States. Eventually they resettled in Redmond OR. Don lived a full life, in which he held many friends dearly. He is a man who will be truly missed here on Earth, but in his wake are many who feel gratitude for the opportunity to have known and loved him. We cherish his memory and rejoice in his newly found freedom and peace. Contributions can be made in the name of Don and Billie to the Redmond branch of the Deschutes County Library, Partners in Care Hospice, or the Oregon Nature Conservancy. Funeral services will be held in Spokane later this spring. Please sign our guest book at redmondmemorial.com. REDMOND MEMORIAL CHAPEL.

I worked at Commark Group in the late70's as a receptionist. We were a nice cozy bunch, .. Diane, Gail, Bill, Howard, and, of course, Billie and Don. It was my first agency experience. Billie played tennis and was surrounded by plants at her desk. Don was the hard working boss with the twinkle in his eye. I have often thought of them over the years. I remember they were very proud of their children. They were definitely very special people. Blessings to the family.

Our sincere sympathy to the family of Don Smith. We enjoyed being neighbors on Fairway Drive and watching the family grow. Don and Billie were very special people.
