WIEDRICH, Duane F. (Age 72) Passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014. He was born on October 4, 1941 to Fay and Thelma Wiedrich in Endicott, Washington. His grandfather, Simon Wiedrich, traveled by covered wagon from Kansas in the late 1890s to establish a homestead on the Palouse River where he raised cattle and sheep. Duane lived on the family farm for 17 years, graduating from LaCrosse High School in 1959 with a track scholarship to W.S.U. Upon graduation in 1964, the family moved to Longview, Washington where he began his career as an insurance adjuster. In two years the family moved to Spokane where Duane became District Manager for Hartford Life Insurance. His love of the outdoors and hunting led him to establish the Family Sports Club in 1972 with over 300 members in the Northwest. He will be remembered for his athletic ability, love of people, enthusiasm and charm. He had the ability to "make things happen" and never "met a stranger". He is survived by son, Brad Wiedrich of Spokane; and daughter and husband, Robyn and Dr. H.D. Thomas of Otter Rock, Oregon; a brother, Dennis of Ramona, California; and sister and husband, Jana and Ed Sprague of Colbert, as well as many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. A service will be held Sunday, April 6th, at Unity Church, 29th and Bernard, at 1 o'clock. Reception to follow.
