Emily Ritzman passed on February 13th, 2011. On June 14th, 1947 she was born to proud parents George and Eugenia "Genie" Ritzman in Philadelphia, PA. She graduated from Drexel University and in 1976 moved to Spokane, WA where she lived happily for the remainder of her life. Emily is remembered by family and friends as a happy and loving woman with an infectious smile and a quick wit. She loved chocolate, wine, music, good food and great conversation. Emily was a very giving woman that always found the positive qualities in people. She was genuinely interested in others and loved to give gifts. She spent 24 years with her soul mate Don McInnis and together they shared many hobbies including traveling. They spent time in Scotland, Germany and even traveled to Russia with the Schastye dance troupe. Emily survived a battle with breast cancer and never allowed her struggle with Alzheimer's to dampen her zest for life or her love of others. She will be well remembered for her courage, her grace and a never ending cheerfulness not present in most. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Don, his brother Mike and their beloved dogs Trixie and Roger. She is survived by her sister Debbie Cooley, brother-in-law Ron Cooley, nephews Christopher and Jonathan Cooley, great aunts Mabel and Caroline Mudd, the McInnis family (Brad, Nita, Sue, Paul, David) and a close circle of amazing friends including Mary Rupert, Mary Doran, Lisa George, and Chris Schettle. The family would like to thank all of Emily's friends for their loving care and support of her, as well as her caregivers at NorthePointe Retirement Community. A memorial will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Westminster Congregational United Church of Christ, 411 South Washington Street, Spokane. For more information contact Mary at 509-838-7449. RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY assisting the family.
