GROTH, Ernest

Passed away in Deer Park, Washington on May 31, 2011. Ernie was born in Fairfield, WA on August 28, 1924 and married Loretta Martin in 1943. They lived in the Fairfield area until 1954 and then relocated to a farm West of Spangle. The family moved into the town of Spangle in 1965. Ernie was preceded in death by his wife Loretta in 1978 and his brother Chester and sisters Hazel and Minnie. Ernie loved to hunt, fish, bowl and dance. He was a lifetime member of the Rockford Gun Club and the Spangle Gun Club where he enjoyed many hours trap shooting with his friends. Ernie enjoyed watching his grandchildren as they pursued their sports endeavors and could often be seen sitting in the crowd and cheering them on. Ernie met Lorelei Sowers in 1980 and they shared the next 25 years together. Ernie left behind many family members. He was the beloved father of Penny of Deer Lake, WA and Steven Groth of Colbert, WA. He leaves behind his twin brother, Earl and wife Jessie; grandchildren: Don Mangis, Deanne Quinn, Landon Adams, Chad Adams, Camille Tappe, and great-grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, June 4, 11:00 am at Rosewood Cemetery in Fairfield, WA. SCHANZENBACH FUNERAL HOME, FAIRFIELD, WA in charge of arrangements.
