Eula Hicks Obituary

HICKS,
Eula E.

Passed away peacefully in her sleep in the morning of March 14, 2011. Eula was born on Christmas Day 1922 in Spokane, Washington. Both sets of Eula's grandparents homesteaded on Moran Prairie in the late 1800's; where she lived into adulthood. She graduated from Lindberg High School in Valleyford, WA in 1940. During World War II she worked as a parachute rigger. In 1945, she married Martin G. Hicks and they settled in the Liberty Park area of East Spokane. They shared 59 years of marriage. Eula was preceded in death by her husband in 2004 and her youngest son, Benjamin R. in 2006. She is survived by her sons Gary L. and Elaine Hicks of Spokane and Martin E. and Tammie Hicks of Las Vegas, five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

The following was read at Eula's great grandfather's memorial:

"Call not back the dear departed
Anchored safe where storm are o'er
On the border land we left them
Soon to meet and part no more"

"When we leave this world of changes
When we leave this world of care
We shall find our missing loved ones
In Our Father's mansion fair."

A private family memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Washington Elks Therapy Program for Children, c/o Greater Spokane Elks, 2605 N. Robie Rd., Spokane, WA 99206.
