BINDER, Freda Ardella

Freda was called to the arms of her loving Savior on August 6, 2011 in Salinas, California at the age of 91.
Freda was born in Greely, Colorado on January 13, 1920. At six weeks she moved to a wheat farm outside of Traer, Kansas with her adoptive parents Thompson and Mary (Hallock) Wammack. She was educated in Traer, Kansas through her second year of high school. She completed her high school education in 1938 when she graduated from the Seventh Day Adventist Academy in Enterprise, Kansas.
She attended Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska from 1938-1940. Freda was accepted into the Nursing Program at Glendale Adventist Hospital in Glendale, California. These plans were changed when she met her future husband, Melvin Binder.
Freda and Melvin were married in Oberlin, Kansas on May 18, 1941. After their marriage Melvin's work took them to live in the Mid-West and Boston, Massachusetts. They moved back to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1944 so Melvin could attend the University Of Nebraska Dental School.
Freda and Melvin moved to Colfax, Washington in 1949 and Melvin opened his dental practice. Freda worked as a homemaker and worked alongside Melvin in their dental practice for many years.
Freda was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed her beautiful flowers, garden, sewing, needlework and baking. She shared her love of these hobbies with her family and friends. But the greatest joy for Freda was her family and her relationship with her Lord. She was a great example to us in the way she lived her life and loved her life.
Freda was an avid reader and was able to enjoy this activity throughout her life.
She loved people and enjoyed her memberships in Aloha Club, Athenaeum Club, Christian Women's Club, Community Bible Church in Colfax and First Presbyterian Church in Salinas, California.
Freda is survived by her daughter, Bonnie (Lonnie) Wilson of Salinas, CA and her son Jerry (Marsha) Binder of Colfax, WA as well as four grandchildren Meredith, Andrew, Terra and Allison and two great grandchildren, Nathan and Taylor.
Freda was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and her loving husband of 55 years, Melvin.
A Celebration of Freda's life will be held on Friday, September 16th at 11:00 a.m. at Community Bible Church in Colfax.
