Gail (Strawberry)
(Age 84)

Gail (Strawberry) Brantner was born on July 4th, 1933 and passed away at home on May 10th, 2018.
He was the oldest child of Charles and Pauline (Wolheter) Brantner of Palouse Washington, where he grew up. Gail contracted rheumatic fever as a child and was confined to bed for almost a year. How his mother kept him down for that long is a mystery to anyone who knew him later in life. Gail was awarded a basketball scholarship to Eastern State College. His college career was short lived, thanks to the Korean war. After serving in the United Stated Army, he returned to Palouse and married Vonda Watson in 1956. They celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Gail worked for the family business and drove school bus for many years and later was a beverage distributor. Gail enjoyed fishing, camping, watching Cougar football and Gonzaga basketball. He loved WWII planes and cars from the 50's and remembered even the smallest detail about them. Although he had many health challenges later in life, he always kept his great sense of humor.
Gail is survived by his wife, Vonda, two sons, Mark (Dorothy), Gregg (Amy) and daughter, Lecia. He is also survived by three granddaughters, two grandsons, five great-grandchildren, a brother and a sister. Gail was preceded in death by his parents, two infant sons, a brother and sister.
A private burial will be held later this summer.
