RAINNER, Gates (Age 58) Gates Rainner, born February 3rd, 1956 in Greensboro, Alabama; went home to be with his Heavenly Father on April 2nd, 2014 at 1pm. He was the youngest child of seven to the late Pennic and Elizabeth (Rhodes) Rainer. He graduated from Sunshine High School - 1973. He served twenty-five years in the US Air Force retiring as MSGT, and receiving the Meritorious Service Medal. Upon retirement he worked and traveled several years with Raytheon and Boeing. He is survived by his daughter, Alicia Ann Rainner; grandson, Isaiah Gates Rainner (8 years old); best friend, Michael V. Brown; dear friend, Dwight Emerson; his brothers: Elmore (Annie) Rainer, Walter (Sue) P. Rainer, Henry (Mary) Mickens and Dayton Mickens; his sisters: Lucy (Rainer) Moore, Cornelia Rainer, Elizabeth, Mary and Sheldon Robertson and Tempie Winston, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom he was deeply loved by. He was a close and influential part of Barbara, Chris and Mark Jackson and family. Gates was preceded in death by sisters: Leola and Viola Rainer and Polly Winston, his aunts: Irene Evans and Lucy Rainer. Gates dedicated his life to Christ as a child at Cassimore A.M.E. Zion Church, Greensboro, AL. He later became a Deacon and Director of Bible Education at Spokane Worship Center (CLGI) pastor Quincy and Denise Tolliver. Gates also had a passion for basketball, karate, music: playing the guitar, drums, and keys. He is truly loved and dearly missed. "If the way in which I held onto my faith during this battle turned just one soul to Jesus Christ it was all worth the fight" - Gates Rainner Funeral Service will be held April 9th at Spokane Worship Center 1129 W. Jackson Ave 11:00am - 12:00pm, followed by burial with full Military Honors at the Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake at 1:30pm.
