Harvie Clark Obituary

CLARK, Harvie H., III,
"HCIII"
(Age 69)

Harv Clark began his journey in Yakima on Friday the 13th March, 1942 and passed away on April Fool's Day, 2011. He was the son of Eunice and Harvie Clark Jr. Always quick with a joke; which if you are sharing those now he will want credit the first three times you tell it -" with the obligation to tell it over and over again.
Introduced to radio by Al Bell at KIT in Yakima his love of broadcasting grew into a lifelong passion -" he was a natural and every bit the professional. In 1960 he joined the Air Force and served overseas in Armed Forces Radio. During his tour he traveled all over Europe and had a ball. He was 18 years at KHQ and finished his broadcasting career with Clear Channel Radio. As the PA announcer he loved his front row seat at Gonzaga University basketball games. He spent 10 years with Spokane Youth Sports Association running the soccer program.
Fishing and bird hunting were hobbies he enjoyed from his childhood. Music also touched his life whether playing in the band, at a live show or quizzing his family about the songs on the radio -" he enjoyed it all. He loved baseball -" playing, watching or umpiring.
Harv is survived by his wife of 38 years Peggy Clark; daughter Erin Clark; grandson and pride and joy Kenner Clark; sister Vicki (Roy) Brown of Lafayette, LA; niece Jennifer Brown of Houston; and nephew Kevin Brown of Lafayette, LA. A celebration of his life will be Sunday, April 10, 2011 at 1pm and will be conducted at Hennessey Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to Camp Sweyolakan, Camp Fire USA Inland NW Council. or St. Luke's Pediatric Outpatient Services. Harv my friend you will be truly missed by many. A man could only wish to have as many friends as you had in your lifetime. Thank you for the time and dedication to the Youth Sport in the Spokane area. There are so many children that you have made a difference in their lives by what you have given. It was my pleasure to have known you for the last 15 years. Your family can be very proud of you. Sleep well my friend.

Our Thoughts and prayers are with Peggy, Erin, and Kenner. We will miss gruff old Harv but I think on the inside he was really a creampuff. Harv, we miss you in the morning and in the evening. They must have needed his voice in heaven.

Harv and I had great years together at the old "Q" Radio. He was testy and prickly, caring and thoughtful. He didn't suffer fools easily. He was Harv, and a true professional. I not only liked him, I admired his sense of duty and loyalty. Perhaps our next lunch together will be in God's Great Control Room. I'll miss you, Harv! My deepest condolences to Peggy and the family.

Our HEARTS and PRAYERS go out to PEGGY and the FAMILY. HARV and I served in Armed Forces Radio together in England, and reconnected in SPOKANE. He was a True Friend and Brother. I'll LOVE Him Forever.
