Helen Borley Obituary

BORLEY, Helen Lou (Burger)

May 30, 1930 - April 13, 2011

Our family matriarch was lovingly wrapped into the wings of angels and placed into the arms of the Lord, surrounded by her devoted family. Helen is now in heaven with her husband, Arnold W. "Bill" Borley, son Francis C. "Chris" Borley, and her parents Frank and Alice Burger, who preceded her in passing.
Helen Lou leaves a legacy as a loving wife, mother, sister, and "Nonnie" to her family. She is survived by five children: Tom Borley (Marilyn) of Pahrump, NV; Mary Morrill (Greg) of Morgan Hill, CA; Kathy Lund (Eddie) and Julie Nelson (Tom) of Modesto; Alice Nelson (Mark) of Selma, CA; sisters Mary Alice Cronin of Spokane, WA; Carol Ann Goodman of Harrison, ID; brother Frank Burger of Spokane, WA; 21 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church, where she was an active member of Catholic Daughters for years and had a life-long abiding faith.
Born and raised in Spokane, she married the love of her life, Bill Borley, in 1950. Together for 40 years until Bill's death, they moved with their six children from Spokane to Modesto in 1963.
We have cherished family memories of summers spent at the family cabin in Loon Lake, WA. She delighted in being a wife and mother, playing bridge with dear friends, collecting loon items, sewing, crocheting, and doting on her grandchildren. We will miss her sense of humor, infectious laugh, and her commitment to family and faith.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, with an evening vigil service to follow at 7:00 pm at the Franklin and Downs McHenry Chapel, 1050 McHenry Ave., Modesto, CA 95350. A funeral Mass will be conducted Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 505 W. Granger Ave., Modesto, CA 95350. Interment to follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or
online at www.alz.org.
