Jim entered eternal rest on February 18, 2011. Born January 12, 1935 in Columbia, PA to Lloyd and Margaret Miller, he was raised in Marietta, PA
and graduated from East Donegal H.S. in Maytown, PA. Following H.S. served his country in the USAF and honorably discharged from Fairchild AFB as a SSGT in 1957. He attended Temple Community College and Eckels College of Mortuary Science in Philadelphia, PA. He returned to Spokane and was employed as a funeral director at Hazen & Jaeger and Smith Funeral Homes. He was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Oriental Lodge #74, Eastern WA Lodge of Research #310, Spokane Chapter OES #163, and the Inland Empire Past Masters Association. He enjoyed living in the Pacific Northwest most of his life and especially liked to hunt and fish.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Darlene; daughter, Janna (Victor) Nicholson of Chattaroy; two sons, James C. (Janine) Miller of Miami, FL and Erik (Tiffany) Miller of Spokane; his sisters, Mary DeCarlton of Mt Joy, PA and Margaret "Peggy" (Joseph) Brenner of Columbia, PA; stepdaughters, Desiree (Charlie) Jones of Kent, WA, Dawnelle (Frank) Thornton of Seattle, WA, and stepson, Darby Cole of Kirkland, WA; five grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Edward G.H. Miller.
Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, February 21st, 12:30 p.m. till 8 p.m. and also, Tuesday, Feb 22nd, 9 a.m. till 8 p.m. at RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME, 4305 N DIVISION, SPOKANE, WA.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at
2 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 4202 N. Belt, Spokane, WA 99205. Masonic Graveside service to follow at 3:30 p.m. at Spokane Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Spokane, WA. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorials be made to Messiah Lutheran Church Building Fund. Guestbook www.riplinger.com
