ONSTAD, James T. "Jim"
(Age 91)

Entered into rest on Tuesday May 29th, 2018. Jim was preceded in death in 2016, by the Love of his Life, "His pretty eyed babe in the whole wide world", Evelyn Onstad. Jim was born in Deer Park WA, to Timan and Eva Onstad, graduated from Deer Park High school, and entered the Navy during his Senior year, once he had enough credits to graduate. He served In WWII on the USS Mindoro and in the Korean Conflict on the USS Bon Homme Richard. Jim enjoyed life and serving others. He became a Master Mason in 1950 and a member of the Valley of Spokane Scottish-Rite in 1952 and a Shriner in 1954. He was an active member of the Chanters for more than 60 years. Enjoyed singing almost as much as he loved golf. Jim and Evelyn golfed regularly while their health allowed them to. They also enjoyed dancing, traveling the world, and spending time with Shriners and Freemasons throughout the country. Jim retired from the US Navy as an Electricians Mate. With his honest smile and firm handshake, he found it easy to get a job and spent 20 years with Columbia Electric as a traveling salesman. Jim's outgoing personality, quick wit and sparkling eyes earned him the nick name - Gentleman Jim. He was also preceded in death by his sister Alice, and brothers Robert and Jack. "Jim, you will be missed by many; but your Legacy will live on through the many friends you have touched throughout your travels. Take care my friend and may all your days be bright with Evelyn by
your side." A Memorial service for both Jim and Evelyn will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 3:00 PM at the Washington State Veteran's Cemetery, Medical Lake, WA, with Military and Masonic funeral honors. Memorials may be made to Spokane's Early Life
