(Age 92)

Passed away peacefully at Sullivan Park Care Center on May 27, 2011. Jean was born in Archer, Montana August 22, 1918 to Theodore L. and Christine (Nelson) Flakne. Jean was married to Carl U. Malcolm and had three sons, David, Carl, and Edward Malcolm. Her husband, Carl, passed away at an early age and Jean later married Norbert B. Izac. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert on July 14th, 1980 and by her son David on May 17th, 2002. Jean and Norbert also raised four daughters, Joy Jean, Gay Jean, Fay Jean and Ray Jean. Jean is survived by daughter-in-law Virginia Malcolm; Carl (Judy) Malcolm, Ed (Shirley) Malcolm, Joy (Fred) Lockard, Sherry (Bill) Slinkard, Fay (Claude) Montecucco, and Ray Vail. There are also nineteen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren and another great-grandchild coming soon. Jean grew up during the Great Depression and learned to make-do with what she had. She worked hard to raise her family, sacrificing much herself as her children came first. Our mother will be sorely missed but never forgotten. We love you Mom! She is in heaven now with our Savior in a life of eternal happiness and bliss.
The family greatly appreciates all of the wonderful support and assistance from the nursing staff, the caregivers and all those who looked after our mother at Sullivan Park Care Center, where mom called home. She loved the bingo games, but even more, those who cared for her there.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. and will be celebrated at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 2120 East First, Spokane, WA. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date.
