John Haukeli Obituary

HAUKELI,
John Edward
Sr. (Age 74)

Passed away February 23, 2011 in Spokane, WA. He was born December 21, 1936, in Aberdeen, WA to Norwegian immigrants, Knute and Anna Haukelid. John spoke of many fond days growing up in Aberdeen and made sure his own family and children experienced the same wonderful memories. John graduated from the University of Oregon and moved to Spokane, where he met and married Carol Noble in 1962. John and Carol moved from Spokane and started a family in Portland, OR. They were very energetic and moved around the Pacific Northwest, finally settling in Yakima, WA. In 1981 they moved to the southwest and settled in Arizona, a place they loved and would return to "snowbird" and enjoy the RV semi retired lifestyle. John's work was primarily in the water business where he made many good friends. John's devout motivation for work was always helping others, and along the way "making friends". He is survived by his loving wife, Carol of 49 years; sons, Terry Barnhill, David Barnhill, John Haukeli Jr. (Shawnna), Mark Haukeli (Paula); and daughter Keli Haukeli (Jimmy). John was a loving grandfather to Chad, Jenna, Lindsay, Morgan, Colbie, Anna, Sarah, Jessi, and Johnny Rolfson; also survived by two sisters, Esther Maddox, of Bothell, WA, and Ingrid Fackrell of Aberdeen, WA; brothers-in-law, Jerry Noble of Post Falls, and Dan Fackrell of Aberdeen; and sister-in-law, Katherine Noble of Post Falls. Big Uncle John, as he was known to his nieces and nephews, was a loving uncle and absolutely adored his many nieces and nephews, their spouses, and families. The smile on his face when getting togetherwith his family said it all. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Arne Haukeli, and Robert Haukeli, and brother-in-law, Harvey Maddox. Visitation will be held Wednesday the 2nd, and Thursday the 3rd, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Friday the 4th, from 8:00 AM to Noon at Heritage Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, March 4th, at Heritage Funeral Home with a Graveside Service to follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Hi Daddy, boy a lot has happened in the last 10 years. The kids are growing up and all of the them are doing so well! You’d be so proud of them all. You’d even be a great grandpa! Colbie and Joe have the most beautiful little boy named Hudson. I hope you and mom are having an awesome time in heaven. We all talk about you both all the time. We miss you dearly and love you so much. Until we chat again please give mom a hug and know your kids are all doing great. Thank you for raising us so well! I love you dad.

A great man has been summoned to come home by his maker. John has completed his work here on earth and is now in a better place. We will all miss John, and each of us will remember John in our own way. But remember one day we will all be together again.
