John Benzie Obituary

BENZIE,
John L.

Passed away peacefully on February 7th, 2011. He was born November 15, 1948, in Butte, MT to John and Marie(San Antonio) Moore. After 16 years in Anaconda, MT where John lived and became very close to his maternal grandfather, he moved to Spokane, WA where he graduated from North Central High School in 1966. He married Susan Marie Breakiron in April of 1982. To that union they had one son and one daughter, Dominic (28) and Jennifer Benzie (25). They raised their family of four in Spokane, WA. Divorced in 2003 but remained friends.
After going from stamp collector to cab driver/dispatcher to comedian, he began his career of 15+ years as a nationwide truck driver, which he enjoyed very much. John recieved many awards for truck driver of the month and two years in a row as truck driver of the year. Most of Johns favorite memories are with his children, from youth flag football to summers on the truck. Retiring in 2006, John enjoyed a couple years in Navarre, FL where his daughter Jennifer was stationed in the Air Force.. After two years in Florida he drove across the country back to Spokane, WA where he spent his remaining years. John will always be remembered for his great warmth and unyielding kindness towards all people. He was known for his jokes and outgoing personality. John made friends wherever he was. His humility, exceptional tolerance, and sharp wit were hallmarks of his personality. He loved life, lived it well, and was immensely fun to be around. He was the rock in the lives of his children.
John died peacefully in his sleep from lung/breathing problems. He is survived by his son Dominic(Spokane, WA) and his daughter Jennifer(Navarre, FL). A special thank you to Hospice of Cheney, WA, and doctors and nurses at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, WA.

My dad and I didn't always get along or see eye to eye, but he was still my father, and I still loved him, I wish I could have seen him 1 last time.
