BASS, Jon Jon Bass, St. John mechanic and business owner, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, June 2, 2010. He died peacefully at his home with his family by his side. Jon was 48. A family graveside service will be held Monday, June 14th at 10:00 am in the St. John Cemetery followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 am at the St. John United Methodist Church. Jon was born November 1, 1961 in Colville, WA. to James H."Bud" and Julie K. (Stuhr) Bass. He grew up in Spokane and graduated from University High School there. Jon attended Spokane Community College where he studied auto mechanics. From early on, Jon was always very busy. He began raising his family, attended college and worked nights for several years. He worked for Pro Automotive in Spokane and developed many lasting friendships during his time there. Jon moved to St. John, Washington where he opened his own shop. St. John Auto Repair was popular in town and Jon was a well known mechanic throughout the area. He married Dawn Johnstone in St. John July 17, 1999. He absolutely loved racing and anything to do with it. He also liked working with his hands, making things; including his custom golf carts and wood-working and he spent many years on the St. John Fire Dept. Jon loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Jon is survived by his wife, Dawn, and children; Amy, Matt and Kaity; his step-children; Heather and Justin; by three grandchildren; Matisen, Lucas and Kendel; his mother, Julie Bass of Spokane; brother Jim Bass, Spokane, and his sister, Christi Parman of Newman Lake, WA.
