NENDL, Joseph F. January 13, 1934 - December 13, 2018 Joe was born in Austria on January 13th 1934 to Anton and Anna Nendl. He was the second of three children. In 1949 the family migrated to Venezuela, where he found a three year apprenticeship in a Swiss pastry shop. After completion, he worked in various stores around Caracas to expand his knowledge in the trade. In 1958, he met his future wife, Edith and they married on May 29th 1959 to spend their lives working together in Joe's profession. On July 1, 1960 their daughter Phina was born. As life deteriorated in Venezuela, they had the opportunity to migrate to the United States, locating in Los Angeles and then Spokane where they opened their own retail bakery business in 1967. Many good friends and new customers relished his scrumptious products. As chocolate truffles became known, his knowledge in chocolate production made him famous all over the country displaying his talents both as a Pastry Chef and Chocolatier. His final step before early retirement was the invention of printing on chocolate. This business is continued today by his daughter and son-in-law. Joe passed away on December 13th one month before his 85th birthday. His survived by his wife and daughter. Preceded in death by his parents in Germany, his older brother Tony, in the Canary Islands, Spain and is survived by his sister Heidi, in Germany.
