Kathryn Pulliam Obituary

PULLIAM, Kathryn "Kay" Izora

Kathryn I. Pulliam, a ten year resident of the Waitts Lake, WA area, passed away on February 21, 2011, in Colville, WA. Kay was born on Sept. 14, 1920 in Elk, WA the daughter of John Andrew and Minnie Mae (Atkins) Wasson.
Kay attended school in Deer Park, WA and graduated from Deer Park High School as a twelve-year senior. On Nov. 15, 1939, Kay married her high school sweetheart, Leonard Pulliam and they made their home in Spokane. Leonard was then called by the U.S. Army to serve his country overseas. During this time, Kay resided in the Copland Park area of Spokane. Upon Len's return, they purchased a home on E Rich in Spokane. Kay and Len relocated to Colville where they purchased the Lucky Lager distributorship in 1960. She assisted in the operation of the business and maintained the books. In 1969, they sold the distributorship and moved to the Spokane Valley. Kay also worked in the home tending to the needs of her family, a roll which she embraced. Due to the early onset of health challenges, Kay's activities grew limited. She and Len enjoyed traveling during their retirement. They traveled to Alaska and to Tieton, WA where they would visit their daughter Karen and assist on her family's orchard and farm.
Kay was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker who gave of herself and all that she could give to her family. She had a wonderful fondness for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. During the summer months, Kay would bring her family to Waitts Lake, where they would stay, sun, swim and play at her parent's cabin. She always placed the needs of her family above those of her own. Kay had a wonderfully independent spirit and let very little stand in her way. In reflection of Kay, her family affectionately remarked, "she was loved and will be missed".
Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Len; a son, Stephen Pulliam; a grandson, Jacob Pulliam; and her siblings, Evelyn Linder, Dorothy Limbert and Melvin Wasson.
She is survived by her daughter; Karen Bollinger and husband, Bill, Valley, WA; sons, Jack Pulliam and wife, Beth of Waitts Lake, WA, Bob Pulliam and wife, Donna, Chugiak, AK; sister, Bonnie Haener, Grangeville, ID; daughter-in-law, Barbara Pulliam; grandchildren, Dana and Mark Bollinger, Jakob, Rachel, Josette, Louie, Jacob, Katrina, Angie and Josh Pulliam, Shelby Peterson; 14 great grandchildren;
