McBRIDE,
Leone Harriet

Leone Harriet McBride passed away peacefully with her two children at her side on May 4, 2018. She was born to Lud and Hannah Olson in Amidon, North Dakota on February 1, 1928. Raised on the family farm during the great depression, she developed a respect for hard work and the value of a dollar earned.
She attended grade school in a one-room school in White Lake Township with her older sister and life-long best friend, Vivian. After graduation from New England High School she studied music and education at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota later graduating from University of Montana.
While attending the University of Montana she met her future husband, John McBride. They married in 1953 and started a family, eventually settling in Spokane. She was mostly a stay-at-home Mom but worked part-time for Spokane Children's Home Society and substitute teaching for District 81 in Spokane. As her children grew, she took full-time employment with district 81 spending several years at Roosevelt Elementary and retiring from Browne Elementary after more than 20 years teaching.
Her retirement years were special for her, traveling and cruising the world with her husband. However her biggest joy was summers at their lake cabin with friends, family and most especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and sister and is survived by her daughter Michelle, son Robert, daughter-in-law Debra, numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A deeply religious woman raised as a Lutheran from her childhood in North Dakota, she will be missed by all that knew her. A Memorial is planned for her on May 19, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 8441 North Indian Trail Rd., Spokane, Washington. Memorial gifts may be made to the Humane Society.
