POOL, M. Merle
(Age 92)

Entered into rest June 4, 2011 in Wenatchee. Merle was born September 18, 1918 on the farm in Lamont, WA to Claude and Vesta Shields. She graduated from Lamont High School, where she was an avid basketball player. She married Richard F. Pool in 1942 and they had two sons: Dennis and Don. They farmed in Lamont, WA until Richard's death. Merle lived five years at the Waterford in Spokane until she moved to Riverwest in Wenatchee in 2004. She has been a member of the Lamont grange since 1934 and the Order of Eastern Star since 1943. She loved to read, sew clothes for the grandchildren, garden her flowers and most of all follow her favorite sport of basketball. Preceding her in death were her husband, Richard F. Pool, her son Dennis Pool and her sister Mildred McCartan. Surviving include her son Donald (Barbara) Pool of Wenatchee, daughter in law Clarice Pool of St. John, her brother Henry Shields of Davenport, grandchildren: Travis Pool of Monroe, John Pool of Boise, Beth (Pool) Grider of Spokane Valley, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday June 11, 2011 at Macabee Cemetery in Sprague, WA at 11:00 AM, concluded by vault interment. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Macabee Cemetery. DANEKAS FUNERAL HOME -" Ritzville is entrusted with arrangements.
