Marceline Lowdon Obituary

LOWDON, Marceline (Pope) "Marcie"
(Age 77)

Marcie Lowdon, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to so many, peacefully passed away April 12, 2011, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. She will be greatly missed by her husband Doug; children Debbie (Jim Topliff) and Mike (Melissa); and grandchildren Lani, Haley, Chrissy, Adam, and Amanda, great-grandson, James; and sister Billie (Pope).
Marcie was born in Bruno, Arkansas, April 3, 1934, to Helen and Raymond Pope. She attended Central Valley High School (1952) where she was a song leader. Marcie worked as a bookkeeper for a lumber brokerage company, and later fell in love with Doug Lowdon, her brother, Paul's, best friend. Doug and Marcie married June, 1956 and spent 54 years together, enjoying homes in the Spokane Valley, Twin Lakes Village, and their very special cabin on Pend Orielle Lake. She led a very active and social life. For many years, she was a member of the Central Park Racquet Club and Spokane Racquet Club. Later, she turned her passion to golf, enjoying the sport while living at Twin Lakes Village, where she was also active in the Village government. Her love for sports continued as a spectator to her children and grandchildren's sporting events, where she cheered with enthusiasm, rain, snow, or shine. As the grandkids matured, her passion for college basketball grew, and she supported her favorite teams with never failing loyalty.
Marcie was preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother Paul.
A celebration of Marcie's life will be held at the Twin Lakes Village clubhouse, Rathdrum, Idaho, Saturday, April 30th, at 3:00 p.m.
