Mary Chadwick Obituary

CHADWICK,
Mary C.
"Mare, Gram"

Mary Chadwick, 78, passed away, suddenly, February 24, at Holy Family Hospital. She was born May 27, 1932 to Walter and Fanny Currin in Genesee, Idaho. Mary was raised in Genesee until moving to Cheney, WA where she attended Eastern Washington College, obtaining her degree and teaching certificate. She married Ron Chadwick in 1953. After Ron's service in the Army, they returned to Spokane, where Mary began a long career in teaching at Whitman Elementary. Mary had a passion for teaching and will be remembered for the profound, positive impact she had on the hundreds of students that passed through her classroom. A hip replacement in 1988 forced her retirement. In the summers between family trips to Southern Idaho and Nevada, Mary relished her time at Loon Lake playing pinochle and spending time with family and friends. She found a particular joy in watching her beloved grand- children grow in to the fine young people they are today. She will be missed dearly by all family and friends. Mary is survived by her husband, Ron Chadwick, daughter Vicki Chadwick Chervenak (Tim), son Ron Chadwick (Laurie), four grandchildren and one great- grandchild. Services will be Friday March 4, at 11 a.m. at RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY 4305 N. Division Spokane, WA. The family would like to thank the Spokane Fire and paramedics as well as the medical staff at Holy Family for their efforts, compassion and understanding. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the American Heart Association Go Red for Women. Online guestbook at www.riplinger.com

I am just now seeing this all these years later. I have thought of Mrs. Chadwick so much over all these years. She was my third grade teacher in 1960. My favorite teacher ever.

Mrs. Chadwick was an amazing teacher! I was in her third grade class in 1975-76. I remember one time she came over for coffee and cake with my parents. She was such a genuine, outstanding person. I will never forget how kind and accepting as she was to all of us. The workd lost a great lady when she passed. I send condolences to her family. She is still missed to this day.

I was very sad to hear of Mrs. Chadwick's passing. She was my 3rd grade teacher and was the BEST teacher I ever had. I remember when I had my tonsils out she came to my house to visit and played with my race car set with me.. A very special lady who touched many lives. My prayers are with all of you during this time of loss.

I knew Ron's phone call to me late at night was going to be bad news. I almost didn't answer the phone. Dorla and I have not been the same since. I can still hear her voice and I dearly miss my talks with her. She never said a bad thing about anybody. During the teacher strike many years ago, she was my best supporter for my work on the school board. While on the board, I made sure her needs were met. Our hearts go out to Ron and family

Mrs. Chadwick was also my favorite teacher! I was in her 3rd grade class in 1963. I still remember the songs she taught us, "Sara Sponda" & "Kookaberra" She certainly was a big influence on my life and thousands of Whitman students.

Mary always smiled and laughed. She and my mom were best friends. Losing her is like losing my mom all over again. They laughed all the time when they were together antiquing and chatting. She was always so full of love for her family. New Years is not the same anymore without going to the Chadwicks and playing pool downstairs or the weekends visiting them at their lake cabin. My heart aches for Big Ron, Vicki, and Ron and the whole family. She was an amazing loving lady that brought that feeling to anyone in the room. Love and hugs to you all, Mary and Joannie are playing a heck of a pinocle game in heaven! She will be missed! Molly Tritle Clark

She was my 3rd grade teacher and by far my favorite teacher I ever had. I remember almost the whole class cried on the last day of school because we all knew how much we would miss her. I still do. Thanks Mrs. Chadwick. Love Dana Shaw student in 1986
