Mike Kincaid Obituary

KINCAID, Mike
(Age 70)

Passed away peacefully at his home in Pullman, WA on March 22, 2011. Mike was a beloved father, grandfather, husband, brother and friend, and will be missed by many.

Mike was born the first of two children to Weldon and Katherine Ellen (O'Neil) Kincaid in Colfax, WA in 1940. He was raised outside of Colfax near Union Center on the family farm, and continued to live on various places on the farm until moving to Pullman in 1992.

Mike attended Colfax schools until a change on the farm prompted a move to the Pullman School District, where he graduated from High School in 1959. After High School, he attended WSU and graduated with a degree in Agronomy in 1963. Mike worked in Lind, WA at Phillips Brothers Co. for a year prior to returning to the farm.

Mike married Sue Kincaid in 1960. They later divorced. They raised two boys on the family farm, and he continued to farm until 1988 when he decided to pursue a career in Real Estate. Mike began his new career in Pullman at Beasley Realty, and later opened his own real estate firm, Kincaid Real Estate, in 2000 in Colfax, WA. As he used to say, "It's all about the deal." Mike married Gail Bailey in 1993 in Leavenworth, WA, and together they shared careers in Real Estate, made special memories in their travels, and forged lasting friendships with wonderful people.

Mike served on the boards of Pullman Grange Supply, Hill Ray Plaza, and Whitman County Realtors as well as on the board of Palouse Producers and the Pullman Hospital Foundation. He was also a member of the Lion's Club in Pullman and Pine Grove Grange in Albion.

Mike will be remembered for his quick wit, his kindness, and friendship. He was an amazing father, and an even more amazing grandfather to his eight grandchildren and six step grand children. He loved nothing more than to attend their sports and school events, and always made time to talk and listen to each and every one of them. He enjoyed watching Pullman and Colfax High School sports. He was a wonderful mentor to new farmers and real estate agents and enjoyed seeing people succeed. He was a Cougar fan, and enjoyed Cougar sports immensely, especially Cougar basketball. He and Gail have many, many friends, and his friendships meant so much to him. Even in the last days of his illness, he was comforted by watching Cougar basketball and the many visits from family and friends. Go Cougs!

Mike is survived by his wife Gail, son Cris and his wife Pam, Pullman, son Keith and his wife Chrisi, Pullman, stepson Michael Bailey and wife Tina of Hayden Lake, stepson Kevin Bailey and wife Regina of Coeur d' Alene, his eight grandchildren and six step grandchildren, and his brother Jim Kincaid, wife Phyllis and family of Colfax, WA.

We would like to thank our family and friends for all of the support and love you've given us during the last several months, and we'd especially like to thank Regina Bailey and Family Home and Hospice for their compassionate care during Mike's illness.

A Rosary will be held at 5:00 pm on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Sacred Heart Church in Pullman, WA with a gathering following at the Hilltop in Pullman. The Funeral Mass in celebration of Mike's life will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, March 28, 2011 at Sacred Heart Church in Pullman, WA with a reception following at Banyon's on the Ridge in Pullman. I love the accompanying picture of Mike and how much I miss visiting with him. He was a great lifelong friend; I can still hear his laughter and voice when I think about him. God bless his family, friends and associates. The world needs more folks like Mike and you, his extended family.

Mike was a lifelong friend and neighbor. We knew each other since we were boys and I cannot begin to express the deep sorrow I feel at his passing. I am so grateful that we got to spend some time together last summer and several good talks on the phone during the fall and winter. Our paths took us in different directions in life, but every time we got together in person, it was a joy filled with a lot of laughter. My heart is filled with admiration and pleasure as I think of Mike and all of you, his family and neighborhood friends. Mike was a good one, an original. He was honest, worked hard, supported his family and friends and brought credit to his community. I loved the guy and I will always cherish my memories of him; he was one of the best. -- Jack Jenkins
