Phyllis L. Ross passed away on January 23, 2011, one day before her 82nd birthday. Phyllis suffered a stroke in 2006. She lived on Long Lake near Nine Mile Falls, since 1976, and prior to that in NW Spokane. Phyllis was preceded in death by her: brother, Robert F. Low, husband Jack of 52 years, grandson Sammie Bryant, daughter Kristina Bryant, and son-in-law Samuel Bryant III. Phyllis is survived by her sister Virginia Sorte, a brother-in-law Paul Ross and a sister-in-law Ruth Jerome; by her children: Timothy J. Ross of Albuquerque, NM, Larry H. Ross of Friday Harbor, WA and Cheri M. Ross of Coeur d' Alene, ID. Phyllis was born in Spokane and attended North Central High school while alternating residences between Hollywood, CA and Spokane. She met Jack in the 1930's and married him after World War II. Phyllis worked as a teenager at the Bon Marche, and worked briefly for the Spokane Public School District in the 1960's. She was a member of Lake Spokane Community Church of Nine Mile Falls.
She was a talented amateur painter, a pianist in her younger years, an avid book reader who documented her collections, and a wonderful mother and wife. She leaves behind many friends who have marveled at the success she forged in her life despite many hardships.
Memorial services will be conducted at Sunset Chapel, Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley, on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be sent to the Humane Society in Phyllis's name.
