Richard Allen

Richard Allen Jayne was born to Russell and Helen Jayne on September 9, 1937, the fifth of seven children. After a lengthy illness, Richard passed away on November 25, 2017 in the Spokane Valley.
As a boy, Rich was diagnosed with heart problems and it kept him from playing the sports he has always loved. Rich was an avid armchair sports fan and cheered on the Arizona Cardinals, the Zags and WSU. Rich loved to sing and was a member of a barbershop quartet in Arizona where he lived for 48 years. He had a special love for the history of aviation and after moving back to Spokane, he volunteered to build model airplanes for the Skyway Cafe' where he spent many happy hours. When the Honor Point Museum opened, he and his wife, Sandi, volunteered to be docents and he was happiest when he was able to interact with visitors to the museum and hanging out with the "Friday Gang". During his career as a mechanical engineer, Rich worked at the Boeing Airplane Manufacturing Plant and was involved in the design of the B52 bomber and in the space program with the Saturn V Project in Huntsville, Alabama.
Rich was also an animal lover extraordinaire and will be greatly missed by his best friends, furry buddies Duke, Daisy and Boots.
Rich is survived by his wife Sandi; children: Randall (Terri), Kevin (Jennifer), Allen, Cyndi (Greg), Laron (Cami); eight grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is much loved and will be greatly missed. We are envisioning him sitting up there in Heaven with God and his friends that went before him enjoying their sports. We are very blessed to have known this generous, caring and compassionate man.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
