Born on August 25, 1972 in Albuquerque, NM and passed away on May 6, 2011 in Fort Gordon, GA. He married Adelicia Ruiz on August 14, 1998 at the Hitching Post in Coeur d'Alene, ID. Rico enlisted in the U.S. Army that same month and was an honorable Soldier. He was an 88M, Motor Transport Operator and was deployed multiple times in support of various operations. He was a proud member of the Prince Hall Masonic Lodge #581. Rico was an avid barbeque fanatic and a very sought after high school wrestling coach. He also enjoyed fishing and playing games with his friends and family. His family was his life and was a very proud father and husband. Rico is survived by his loving wife, Adelicia Carabajal; his three sons, Derrit James, Domonic and Diego all of GA; mother, Patricia Venable; father, Derrit Venable, both of Spokane; grandmother, Isabel Gabaldon of Albuquerque; brother, Joele Reeves; mother and father-in-law, Bienvelina M. and James M. Ruiz; brothers-in-law, Marcos, Ricardo and Raul Ruiz, all of Spokane; sister-in-law, Jeanell Wardian of Orlando, FL, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Pat Perea and grandmother-in-law, Esperanza Mascardo. A service honoring Rico's life was held at the funeral home.
