BAKKEN,
Richard L.

Born July 27, 1917 and died February 10, 2011 at the age of 93. Dick was known for his profound love of the Lord, his humble gentle spirit, his strength and sense of humor. He was the oldest member of Zion Lutheran Church, a member for over 60 years. He read his Bible daily, loved, provided and cared for his family and will be greatly missed. He loved working with wood, sending spiritual messages and connecting with his friends and family on the computer. In his 50's along with his wife, Dorothy, they learned to water ski, snow ski and ride a motorcycle! He served in the U.S. Army 1st infantry during World War II. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy; his son Dick Bakken, Bisbee, AZ; three daughters Mary Brodhun, Port Angeles, WA, Sally Bakken and Debby MacKenzie, both of Spokane; his brother, Marlowe Bakken and sister Arlene Nelson, both of Racine, WI; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 8304 E. Buckeye, Spokane, WA 99202, Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. Memorial contributions can be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
