(Age 83)

Passed away Tuesday, February 15th at Bayview Manor in Seattle, WA after fighting a very long battle with prostate cancer.
He was born September 29, 1927 at Colfax, WA to Henry and Odie (Rasmussen) Walters. He attended schools in Farmington through the sixth grade, and then completed his schooling at Tekoa where he graduated from high school in 1945. Following high school, Mr. Walters served in the Army Air Corps at the end of World War II.
Robert married Joyce R. Woods in Tekoa on June 12, 1949. The couple made their home in Tekoa where he managed the Safeway grocery store. Mr. Walters later managed Safeway stores in Spokane, Davenport, and Pullman, WA. He retired in 1986 with 41 years with Safeway. In 1986, the couple returned to Tekoa where they have made their home since. He has spent the last 10 months at Bayview Manor in Seattle.
He was a former member of the Moose Lodge, the Eagles Lodge, and the Pullman Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Tekoa Golf and Country Club.
Survivors include his wife Joyce at the Tekoa home; one son Robert Walters and his wife Carol of Bothell, Washington; one daughter, Stacey Ann Walters of Seattle, Washington; two grandchildren, Bryan and Taia Walters.
A graveside service for Robert J. Walters, age 83, will be held Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Goldenrod Cemetery, Tekoa, Washington. Pastor Kathy Lee Kramer will officiate at the service.
