Ruth Muhs Obituary

MUHS,
Ruth Evelyn
(Age 100)

August 14, 1910 -
June 4, 2011

Our dear mother passed away peacefully in her home, Saturday with her family beside her. She was born in Spokane to parents Paul and Lena Pearson and was raised on their Nine Mile farm with sisters Minnie and Thelma.
She married Henry Muhs and together they raised their six children on Five Mile Prairie before moving to Spokane's northside in 1952.
Ruth was a cook for District 81 for many years and retired in 1975. As many retirees do, she then spent her "rest" years caring for her husband, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She enjoyed working in her huge vegetable garden, fishing, playing bingo at Eagles Lodge, and long country rides with her sister Thelma and a few "Olys" to quench their thirst.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Henry, her son-in-law Robert Kappeler, and grandson Stephen Kappeler. She is survived by her children Harriet Kappeler, Helen (Bill) McBride, Barbara (Patrick) Hunt, Harvey Muhs, Dorothy (David) Germain, and Richard Muhs. She also leaves behind her ten wonderful grandchildren Kevin, Jeffrey, Michael, Darla, Val, Julie, Jeff, Jennie, Rhonda, and Brenda and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Her family would also like to express a "special thank you" to Mike Hedin, Diana Dodson, and Dan Walsh for their visits to her at her home. Always feisty, she said "come see me when I'm alive, not when I'm gone."
At Mom's request, there will be no funeral or memorial service because, in her words, "I don't want all that fuss and bother."
Her spunkiness, laughter and great smile will be missed
by everyone who knew her.

I was sorry to hear about "Mumsy". I spent many times with her and the rest of the family and will miss her. She had a great personality and was loved by all. My heart goes out to all of you.

My deepest sympathies to all the family and friends. My 109 year old aunt passed away recently and we all marvel at the life these 'spunky' ones lived and all that they saw over the years. I went to Rogers with Helen and remember her fondly. You are in my thoughts and prayers. May God bless you all, Carole (Rhodes) Fournier, Danielson, CT.
