Ruth Dettwiler Obituary

(AGE 89)

Was born September 2, 1921 in Kooskia, Idaho. Her parents were Hugh M. and Mildred Keith, a WWI Vet with one lung and the hospital volunteer who fell in love with him. Ruth grew up during the Depression, helping care for her siblings and reading voraciously. After her first jobs, she joined the last WWII cadet nursing class at Sacred Heart, where she met and married Marvin Dettwiler. They raised two boys and had a number of small businesses. Marvin died of a heart attack, and Ruth had several jobs, including County bookmobile clerk/alternate driver and clerk for Leo's Photography, before retiring to enjoy crossword puzzles, travel, volunteer English tutoring and more reading. After struggling with two strokes, diabetes and dementia, Ruth passed away peacefully on the 34th anniversary of Marvin's death. She is survived by her sister Mildred Asker; brother Hugh Keith; sons Tom and Jim Dettwiler; and multitudes of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Au revior, Mom.
