Sidney Wyatt Obituary

WYATT, Sidney C.

Sidney Clarence Wyatt, age 89, of Republic, Washington died February 14, 2011 at home with his family. He was born February 12, 1922 in Trinadad, WA to Clarence and Amy Wyatt. Sid was born at Crescent Bar and went to school at Trinadad and Quincy, graduating in 1942 from Quincy High School. In September 14, the same year he entered in to the U.S. Army, serving in Europe under General Patton in the 109th infantry for the duration of WWII, receiving a Purple Heart and other prestigious medals, including three Bronze SV stars. After returning home from the war he cowboyed for his room and board at a cattle and sheep ranch at West Bar and he also operated the Ferry Crossing at the Columbia River hauling sheep and cattle ranch supplies for 16 years. He then owned his own trucking company for nine years. Later he worked for Whitworth College in Spokane and worked and retired from Grant County as a heavy equipment operator. Sid moved to Republic in 1993 and enjoyed the ministry.
He is survived by: his wife, Joyce Wyatt; children: Judy (Lonzo) Durey, Steve Wyatt, Dale Wyatt, Robert (Cheryl) Volkman, Penny (Audie) McCurdy; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: parents Clarence Wyatt and Amy (Wyatt) Kail; stepdad Ed Kail, and sister Annie Mae Seely.
Services will be held Friday, February 18, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Republic Assembly of God Church, with Pastor Ralph Ellingson officiating. Viewing will be held at the church at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Republic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Union Gospel Mission, Ogden Hall or the Samaritans Purse.
