Thomas Patrick Ames passed away January 18, 2011 in Spokane, WA. He was born April 2, 1918 in Putney, VT, the son of Thomas W. and Florence A. (White) Ames. Patrick was raised in Williamsport, PA, McCloud, MT and Cody, WY. He married Helen in Basin, WY in 1941. A Veteran of WWII serving under General George Patton in the 756th Tank Battalion, he saw service in North Africa and Italy. Pat was wounded in the battle of Cassino, Italy. His military decorations include three Bronze stars and a Purple Heart. Patrick received a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting at Montana State University and spent the majority of his professional life as an auditor in the oil industry. He was an active leader in the Boy Scouts of America and was a member of the Benevolent Protectorate of Elks. His favorite hobby was fly fishing, which he participated in for some 80 years. He was a marvelous communicator and loved interaction with his family and many friends. Patrick was also a member of the Western Rite of the Antioch Orthodox Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Helen; his brother Jim; and his sister Mary Florence. Patrick is survived by his sons Thomas Guy Ames and John Richard Ames; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Private Interment will be in Big Timber, MT in the Veteran's section of the cemetery. A memorial service will be in Cody, WY in the summer of 2011.
