Virgil Jones Obituary

JONES, Virgil Edwin
(79 Years of Life)

In loving memory of Virgil Edwin Jones, who passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at the age of 79 years at his Clayton residence. He was born on August 15, 1931, at Sheridan, Wyoming, and has been a Clayton resident since 1942. Virgil served his country during the Korean Conflict as a Medic in the United States Army. After serving in the military, he was employed at Deer Park Pine Industries. Upon its closure in the early 1970's, Virgil worked for the Spokane County Road Dept. until retiring. Throughout the years, Virgil enjoyed working on his farm. He and his wife, Darleen, raised Hereford beef cattle and grew various crops. There are many good memories of Dad enjoying his cattle and raising hay. Our father was a man of his word. This unwaivering commitment he bestowed on his family in love and security. In Dad's last years, our Lord Jesus gave us the strength to give back to Dad that same love and security he had always given to us. We will never forget hearing Dad play his guitar and singing his favorite gospel hymns. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Darleen, at the home in Clayton, WA; sons Calvin Jones and wife Starla of Goldendale, WA; Arlin Jones and wife Pamela of Clayton, WA; and daughter Gail Minden and husband Edward of Bonners Ferry, ID; brother Roscoe Jones and wife Karen of Spokane, WA; sisters Louise Heickson and husband Joseph of Loon Lake, WA; Kathleen McAter and Jean Tempro of Spokane, WA; Ila Dean Matthews of Athol, ID; and Irene Abbey of Huson, MT. Virgil enjoyed six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services honoring Virgil will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 19, 2011, in Deer Park at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church with Pastor Rick McCombs officiating. Interment will be in Zion Hill/Trysil Cemetery, Clayton, WA.
