William Lindquist Obituary

LINDQUIST, William G.
"Bill" (Age 78)

Left this earth to meet our Lord Sunday, January 2, 2011. He had his family at his side cherishing him and each other. Bill was born January 16, 1932 in Orion, Illinois to Mora and Desyl Lindquist. Bill graduated from high school in Orion where he was recently admitted to the Hall of Fame for his athletic career. He attended the University of Iowa on a football scholarship and graduated with a degree in dentistry. He joined the Navy as a dentist and practiced at the Great Lakes Naval Base in Illinois. Bill married Marie Phillips in 1956 and together they moved to Seattle for him to attend orthodontics school at the University of Washington. Bill and Marie lived most of their 54 years of marriage in Spokane where he practiced as an orthodontist. They raised three children together. Bill loved to fish and hunt. He was also an accomplished athlete enjoying tennis, golf, biking and handball as an adult. He loved watching his children and grandchildren perform in athletics and music. Bill is survived by his wife, Marie and three children: David (Jill), Susan (Pat DeVries) and Paula (Matt Ihle). Bill had 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Desyl Spivey, and his father, Mora. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at CenterPlace at Mirabeau Point Park, 2426 N. Discovery Place. If attending, please RSVP to: [email protected]. Memorials may be given to Bill's favorite charities: Meals on Wheels or City Gate Fellowship, 170 S. Madison St. Spokane, WA 99201. Dr. Lindquist came to the charity clinic in La Ceiba, Honduras and extracted teeth on a poor community there. He loved " roughing it" ; no equipment, just rongeurs! Thanks you Marie and Bill.

Dr. Lindquist was my orthodontist in 1970-1971 when his office was on the west side of Pines Rd. just south of Sprague Ave. He did a wonderful job on my teeth. I think about that every now-and then. My most sincere condolences to the family, and my very sincere thanks to Dr. Lindquist who gave me a wonderful life with his dental work on me. Mike Hedger
